SOUTHWESTERN VERMONT HEALTH CARE SIGNS CONTRACT WITH NG ADVANTAGE
The 99-bed community hospital switched to NG Advantage to use cleaner fuel, save money
Colchester, VT – NG Advantage LLC, which is majority-owned by Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE) and is the U.S.’s leading provider of trucked natural gas, announced that it has signed a 5-year contract with Southwestern Vermont Health Care to deliver compressed natural gas (CNG) to their location in Bennington, Vermont.
Southwestern Vermont Health Care is a comprehensive health care system serving Bennington and Windham Counties in Vermont, eastern Rensselaer and Washington Counties in New York, and northern Berkshire County in Massachusetts. The contract was signed for Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, a 99-bed community hospital based in Bennington. NG Advantage will begin supplying the hospital with compressed natural gas this fall.
The hospital was seeking to source compressed natural gas and have a fueling station designed and built to accommodate a new central boiler plant that would primarily use compressed natural gas as its fuel source. Their existing boiler, which was being replaced and operated with fuel oil, requires significantly more equipment maintenance than natural gas and is both less clean and more expensive.
Two other medical centers in Vermont, Rutland Regional Medical Center and Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, have already seen dramatic improvements in cost and a better adherence to their environmental initiatives after switching to NG Advantage.

The contract’s announcement comes as NG Advantage begins to construct a new Operations Center in Fenton, New York, which will deliver the economic and environmental benefits of clean-burning natural gas to businesses within a 200-mile radius of the facility. In addition to providing cheaper and more efficient compressed natural gas to companies in the area, NG Advantage hopes to benefit the local economy by providing over 150 jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue to the Fenton community once the facility opens.
